Perched mysteriously atop a hill is this quaint yet grand mansion hotel that pays homage to perhaps the most fascinating protagonist of detective stories: Sherlock Holmes. During the British era it was once a summer mansion, the architectural grandeur of which still stands tall as a testament to the bygone era. The brick-walled chimneys, the pristine lawns and gardens, the Victorian design, and the very structure set amidst lofty hills and mist-covered valleys make this quaint boutique hotel live up to every letter of its name.
The expansive Sherlock mansion has a spacious interaction area, a reading room, and an activity space that leads to nine spacious rooms (each named after a Holmesian adventure). All rooms have fireplaces and an atmosphere that's as mysterious as romantic.

We had a wonderful stay at Sherlock Hotel in Ooty. We stayed in the Black Peter room, and absolutely loved how thoughtfully the Sherlock Holmes theme has been carried through the property. It gives the place a unique character that’s hard to find elsewhere. One of my favourite parts of the stay was the beautiful garden. It was so peaceful and relaxing that we found ourselves spending a lot of time there, simply enjoying the calm surroundings and fresh mountain air. It was the perfect escape from the busy routine. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and the entire property is very well maintained. The staff were courteous, welcoming and always ready to help, which made the experience even better. If you’re looking for a heritage property with a unique theme, peaceful ambience and warm hospitality, I would definitely recommend Sherlock Hotel. It’s one of those places that becomes a part of your Ooty memories, and we’d love to return someday.
We were a group of five friends who stayed at Sherlock for 3 days and 2 nights, and it was truly a memorable experience. The property has a beautiful Victorian charm that takes you back in time. The architecture, interiors, and furniture are tastefully done, creating a unique old-world ambience. Both the Garden View and Mountain View rooms offer lovely scenic views. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, very well maintained, and extremely comfortable, making for a relaxing stay. The breakfast was quite good with a decent spread, although the à la carte menu is a bit on the expensive side. What really made our stay exceptional was the hospitality. Every member of the staff—from the manager and concierge to the housekeeping team—was warm, courteous, and always ready to help. A special thanks to Mr. Anthony, Sanjay, and Abdul for their outstanding service and for making us feel so welcome. The resort is located on a hill, just a short drive from Ooty town. The only downside was the last stretch of the approach road, which was quite muddy and could certainly be improved. Also, as the property has a limited number of rooms, larger groups should book well in advance. One suggestion for the management would be to consider including a complimentary high tea as part of the stay package. It would be a wonderful addition that perfectly complements the property’s Victorian charm and would further elevate the overall guest experience. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend Sherlock to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with heritage charm. If you appreciate Victorian-style architecture, serene surroundings, impeccably maintained rooms, and exceptional hospitality, Sherlock is definitely a place worth experiencing.
